January 2020
School-age #1
Welcome 2020! January is the time to celebrate our dreams, explore new opportunities, count our blessings and focus on achieving whatever we put our minds to.
This year we are promoting the importance of embracing the freshness that each day can bring. Last month we discussed how we can focus on the present instead of focusing on mistakes that have occurred in the past. We are also discussing accountability for our own individual actions and behaviours.
We are excited to exemplify how every life is like a story and you are in charge of writing yours. With that said, this month we will be exploring language arts by writing short stories and engaging in various large group improv activities.
Some other interests our class has shown are creating mazes, maps, and obstacle courses, curiosity in road signs and safety, as well as what it was like before “humans made electricity” (Everett).
Thank you so much to our staff who raised $700.00 by donating money to wear jeans on Fridays. We donated this money to the Essex Food Bank and to the Salvation Army.
Just a reminder of the P.D. day on Friday, January 17th, please let us know if your child will be attending.

School-Age #2
“You will never get bored when you try something
new. There’s really no limit to what you can do!” – Dr. Seuss
Happy
New Year! We would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all our
families! We hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday break! We are eager
to hear all the children’s exciting stories!
We
are looking forward to a great year ahead growing and learning together. We
will begin the new year reflecting on ourselves and sharing what positive
changes we will make this year. Together, we will brainstorm new ways of
thinking and challenging ourselves. Additionally, we will share our goals and
aspirations for the year ahead.
Before
the break the children in School Age #2 were interested in baking, STEM
challenges, and creating crafts using the hot glue gun. We have decided to
expand on these interests by working as a class to create a ‘baking bucket
list’ of recipes we would like to try. We will also expand our art cart in
order to provide more art materials and provide more STEM challenges to the
children. These activities with help to foster ingenuity, creativity, and
encourage experimentation. We already have a busy month ahead of us, we can’t
wait to see what adventures and interests the rest of the year will bring!
