Preschool Room #3 News

Spring is finally here! The preschoolers have already been enjoying the nicer weather and noticing the changes that spring brings. They have begun finding flower buds, bugs, and more during their outside time.  This has sparked many learning opportunities that we will focus on this month.

Discussions about the Easter Bunny have already begun as well. The children have started to share their experiences and what their plans are to try and capture the Easter Bunny! We hope that all our families enjoy their Easter celebrations. Reminder that we will be closed for Good Friday on April 18th and Easter Monday on the 21st.  Before leaving for our break, we will celebrate with an Easter party! As always, we will have other themed days that you can find on the Remind App and outside our classroom door.

By the start of April, we will have finished focusing on each letter of the alphabet and have completed our letter of the day cycle. The preschoolers have become excellent at identifying each letter and the sound it makes. During circle the children even request to do the jolly phonics songs. As we move closer to kindergarten we will continue to focus on other kindergarten readiness skills. This includes matching our lower case and capital letters and adding focus to our numbers and more complex shapes.

For the month of April our dramatic play centre will be changed into outer space. During the time change, a few of the children noticed the moon still in the sky during daytime. The astronaut and alien figurines are also one of our most popular toys. This led to an interest in space and other planets. This interest aligned perfectly with Earth Day falling at the end of the month.  We can’t wait to see where our imagination takes us!
