We hope our families enjoyed Canada’s birthday. The children celebrated in our dramatic play centre. They sold souvenirs and explored Canadian money. The children rode stick horses like the Mounties do and they participated in Canada Day parades. We talked about our country and the ways that we can keep it clean. The children sorted materials into the red and blue bins and we practiced recycling.
Lately, the children are incorporating “loose parts” into their structures that they build. Items such as shells, shiny CD’s and stories provide opportunities for the children to explore patterns, area and space, and to use creative thinking.
