Preschool Room #1
Christmas is the topic of the month. We have heard so much about Santa Claus and his reindeer. All the children insist that they have been very good girls and boys all year long. I guess time will tell. We have some toy catalogues on our book shelf, and it seems that all of the toys are on all their lists. Our friendly elf Tinsel should be making her return to our classroom. It will be fun for the children to find her upon their arrival at school. Our elf does not like to cause or get into any trouble. She prefers hanging out in higher locations that are unreachable so there is no chance of her losing her magic .
Thanks to everyone that has brought in snow pants, boots, hats, & mittens. Thank you also for labelling them with your child’s name, this helps keeps things organized. The children get themselves undressed and put their own belongings in their cubbies and sometimes they get the wrong cubby or basket. If items are labelled the teachers can easily get them into the correct baskets and avoid lost articles.
We will be having a toy/canned good drive for local charities. If you choose to participate, please have donations in by Wednesday, Dec 13th. Boxes for these items can be found at the front entrance of the school.
Story Book ELC will be closed Monday Dec 25th until January 1st . We will reopen on Tuesday January 2nd . We hope that you all enjoy your holidays. We look forward to hearing all the children’s stories when they return. Christmas through their eyes is wonderful.
Just an FYI: the Essex Santa Claus Parade is Saturday, December 9th at 6:30. Dress warm if you plan to attend.
Preschool Room #2
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and we are excited to celebrate the holiday season with holly jolly activities through out the month of December.
We are going to turn our Dramatic Play Centre into Santa’s Workshop for our little elves to play and explore. We are also going to explore festive large and small groups activities with all our favourite Christmas songs, games, and characters.
The winter weather is here! We are excited to do all the wonderful snow activities such as snowman building and sledding. However, it’s not such a fun time for the little ones when they are cold. Please keep this in mind when providing outdoor clothing. Please ensure your child has a coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and mittens (no gloves please) so we can have the best time while outside.
Recently the children have been interested in transportation that we supported by added vehicle magnets to our play centre as well as classifying what vehicles go on land, water or in the air during large group. We also discussed what emergency vehicles help us.
Just a reminder that we are closed from Monday, December 25th to Tuesday, January 2nd 2024.
We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.
