Preschool Room #1
Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. We are very excited to hear all the children’s stories about the gifts they received. The Santa stories are always the most interesting. We’ve been talking about the big guy for a whole month.
We had a lot of fun with Tinsel, the children looked forward to finding her hiding spot everyday. On our last day before the break Tinsel put herself in a jar so the children could carry her around. They put her in the oven, let her look out the window, gave her a turn in the doll house, and she was even seen in the bathroom at one point. Sadly, Tinsel has gone back to the North Pole, but we look forward to seeing her next year.
All the children are getting very good at putting on their winter gear. We have been encouraging self help skills to enhance their independence. Please continue to send snow pants and boots even if there isn’t any snow. We are outside for around 45 minutes and it’s more fun if they are warm. Thank you also for sending mittens and not gloves with your child, as this really helps with getting ready.
We would like to thank everyone that donated to the Salvation Army basket drive. You helped to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
Preschool Room #2
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful and joyous holiday and we are excited to welcome everyone back.
We are starting 2025 off with the interest many of the children have about winter. We will be saying goodbye to “Santa’s Workshop” in the dramatic centre and hello to a “Winter Wonderland”. The children will be able to participate in a serration activity by building snowmen with different sizes of boxes, go ice fishing, and pretend to make some hot chocolate. We may even bring out the empty tissue boxes again to go “skating”. The children really enjoyed it when we did that activity during large group last month.
Since the children are still showing so much interest in animals and what they do in the winter, we are going to continue to learn about Arctic animals.
We are also excited to play in snow outside (fingers crossed). The toboggans, snow shovels, and buckets are ready and waiting to have some outdoor fun.
Just another reminder to please label all outdoor clothing. Also, when getting your little ones ready in the morning please remember that mittens are preferred over gloves. It takes away from our outside time when the teachers have to help with all the little fingers fitting into all the gloves. Not only do mittens promote self help skills, but are also warmer outside.

Teach me and I’ll remember.
Involve me and I’ll learn.
