Having spent the most part of the past month practicing “kindness”, these Kindergarten students are not finished yet! As the holiday season approaches, this caring crew is just gearing up for their “Holiday Happiness” campaign. We’ll be creating all kinds of special crafts and artwork to send to the seniors, residing at Iler Lodge, here in town. They absolutely adored our Valentine cards, and our Thanksgiving turkeys brought forth many smiles! And if time permits, we’ll be making & mailing cards to members of the Canadian Forces (who can’t be home with their families during the holidays), as well. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that warm hearts the most.
If you’ve spent any time in the Kindergarten room, you would surely know that December is Miss Kelly’s absolute favourite time of year! It’s a guarantee that we will be celebrating the holidays ALL month long! All things “Christmas” are about to erupt in our classroom! Holiday themed characters will appear in the mystery bag, Christmas stories will be read on the daily, and our favourite holiday carols will be playing in the background, as we go about our work & play each day. The opening of a special Play-Mobile advent calendar will be a highlight during our large group activities, and a whole lot of “red & green” will take over the art table creations! As mentioned above, it’s going to be a very busy month in our JK/SK workshop, and these “elves” are up for the challenge!
Rumour has it, that we may soon have a “visitor” drop in for the holidays. If it’s who we’re thinking, be prepared for lots of funny stories from our Kindergarten friends. Sparkle (the elf) has been coming to our classroom for several years now. And, although he’s supposed to be watching the students and reporting back to Santa, Sparkle often gets into a ton of mischief while he’s here! From dumping puzzle boxes, and climbing cupboards, to wrapping our toy cart in toilet paper, there’s just no telling what this silly guy might do. Stay tuned!
Just a reminder, as well, that our S.B.E.L.C. latchkey program will be closed from December 24th – January 2nd, for the Christmas holiday. We will return on Tuesday (Jan 3rd) and offer full-day care (6am – 6pm) for the remainder of that week. Please let us know, asap, if your child(ren) will require care at the time.
From here, in the Kindergarten room, we’d like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and hope that you enjoy the holiday season! See you in the New Year!
