Infant Room #1
The nice weather is finally here!!! We are so glad to be able to take the babies outside multiple times a day, to play in the yard and on walks in the strollers or wagons. The babies thrive outdoors, and it is such an amazing teaching environment for us to talk about all the different types of bugs, animals, and flowers we see around us. The children are developing and growing their gross motor skills by using the slide, riding bikes, and climbing the hill. Just a reminder to continue to send a hat for your little one and a sweater as we do go outside in the early morning.
We are asking all families to please send a couple of extra outfits to leave in your child’s backpack for the months of July and August as our focus will be on water play. Not only will it keep your little ones cool during the summer months, but the benefits of water play are so important for infants. Water play builds hand and eye coordination, introduces mathematical and scientific concepts, enhances concentration and focus, develops motor skills and sensory exploration, and builds social and communication skills.
We are excited to celebrate our Dads, Grandpas, and Uncles for the month of June. Happy Father’s Day to all our families. The children are working hard on creating wonderful masterpieces for our Dads and the special men in our lives.
Just a reminder Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed on Monday, July 1st for Canada Day. Enjoy!
Also, if you have not already done so, please inform the staff of your children’s summer vacation schedule ASAP. This will help us with staffing.
Infant Room #2
Time is flying by, and our babies are growing and changing before our eyes. We have 3 new walkers in the room now and lots of babbling and words being formed!!
All the children have been interested in making different sounds using any and all materials in the classroom. We are going to expand on this interest this month by providing more items to bang, shake and explore with our music making skills. We will also be adding musical instruments and musical toys to our shelves. With music comes movement, so we will be exploring movement ribbons and scarves while listening to different types of music.
Please check your child’s spare clothes, it may be time to change them for summer clothes since the weather is getting warmer. We would also recommend bringing in a summer hat as we do go out to play in the playground.
With the summer months quickly approaching, please inform us of any time you would like to schedule your child out for summer vacation.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and grandpas. We hope you enjoy your day!
Just a reminder: We will be closed on Monday July 1st for Canada day. Enjoy the holiday weekend!
