Toddler Room #1
It’s hard to believe summer is coming to an end. We hope everyone had a wonderful one. We have enjoyed hearing all about your vacations, weekend getaways and day trips. It’s adorable hearing the excitement from your little ones. We also look forward to welcoming back our little friends who were off for the summer.
With all the talk about some of these trips, we have spent the last few weeks talking about camping. We have learned about cottages, trailers and tents, and more. The toddlers had so much fun engaging in pretend camping at school using tents, sleeping bags, flashlights, and pretending to roast marshmallows and hotdogs. They especially loved making s’mores and eating them for snack.
We are very excited for the start of a new ‘school’ year. With that, we will welcome new little friends and look forward to fresh curriculum and learning experiences in our classroom.
Toddler Room #2
We are sad to see the summer go but are excited to welcome back our friends returning from summer break, as well as some new friends from the infant rooms. We also want to wish all the best to our friends moving to the preschool room, we will miss you but look forward to our chats outside through the fence.
As we have a lot of friends getting ready to move to the “big room”, we have been working on self-help skills. This includes things like putting on shoes, pulling down/pulling up pants in the bathroom, washing hands, and come fall putting on their own jackets using the “flip method”. We have also been focusing on toilet learning, starting with getting comfortable sitting on the toilet, with hopes of having some children in underwear.
During the month of August, the toddlers fell in love with fairy tales. The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood were their favourites as they absolutely loved the Big Bad Wolf. Even now a month later we still have friends talking about the wolf coming to get them.
