Toddler Room #1
February was a quick month! We had fun learning about Valentines Day and talking about our family and friends. We hope you all enjoyed Family Day.
As most of our toddlers have been showing an interest in cars and trucks, we’ve started to implement transportation into our curriculum. They have been having fun with this at both circle and small group time. Our transportation sensory bin has definitely been a big hit. Driving, filling, dumping, language, creativity and social interaction are just some of the wonderful skills it encourages.
We welcome Miss Abby to our classroom this month. She will be with us on Thursday and Friday, each week until April. She is studying Early Childhood Education at St. Clair College.
Reminder: March Break is the 13th -17th. Please let staff know if there are any changes to your child’s schedule.
Also, we will be closed Friday April 7th for Good Friday and Monday April 10th for Easter Monday. Have a safe and Happy Easter.
Toddler Room #2
What a fun and quick month February was! We began the month by continuing the class’s interest of animals, this time focusing on farm animals. The toddlers have been excelling at naming the different animals and sounds. On Groundhog day we learned about groundhogs and created headbands announcing an early spring. Yay! As we moved through the month, we began discussing Valentine’s Day and working very hard on making valentines for our friends and family. Each child also made and decorated their very own Valentine’s mailbox to collect all the special cards and treats from their friends. At the end of the month, we focused more on family and created individual and a collaborative family tree. If you have not yet brought in a picture for our classroom display, please feel free to do so. You can also send the photo on Remind App and we can print it off for you. The children love showing all their friends and teachers their family and being able to see them throughout the day.
During the month of March, we are looking forward to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and creating some fun themed art and sensory experiences. During this month we will also be learning about colours and music! The toddlers have been interested in naming the colours they use as they draw and matching games during circle. They have also shown an interest in music as some friends have been tapping the spoons on pots in the kitchen and turning over toy bins to hit with their hands to create drums. We are excited to further promote these interests.
During the next few months, we are looking forward to Miss Ava being with us, a co-op student from Essex District High School. The children have already started forming connections with her. We wish lots of luck to our friends who have moved up to Preschool Room #1 and have been having a wonderful time welcoming new little friends to our room. To those travelling over March Break we can’t wait to hear all about your adventures.
Reminder to wear green March 17th!
Also, we will be closed Friday April 7th for Good Friday and Monday April 10th for Easter Monday. Have a safe and Happy Easter.
