We are happy to report that our Earth Day celebrations were a huge success! And here, in the JK/SK room, we certainly are proud of our Kindergarten friends for taking our play yard clean-up by storm! They were able to fill THREE grocery bags with garbage, and show everyone just how easy it is to be kind to our planet! We learned that “Every Day is Earth Day”, as we should never stop caring for our environment.
Here, in the Kindergarten Room, we were looking at the month ahead, and found plenty of fun things to celebrate, on our “Holiday Every Day” calendar. On Wednesday, May 4th, we’ll be serving up oranges for afternoon snack, as its National Orange Juice Day! Cinco de Mayo falls on the 5th, but we’ll be blasting off with space games & stories, as we honour National Astronaut Day instead.
We’ll be celebrating our Moms (& other important ladies), as Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. We’ll talk about all of the special things that our Moms do for us, and all of the things that we could do for them. And our art centre will be busy, as we create a little surprise for these incredible people, but . . . sshhhh, it’s a surprise!
The JK/SK friends are wondering if that sneaky little leprechaun will make an appearance on the 13th, as it’s officially Leprechaun Day! We’ll bring back our shamrocks, and add lots of green things to circle time that day, just in case! This crew will be putting a new twist on their beloved “Freeze Dance” on Dance Like A Chicken Day, and turning into super sleuths as they follow clues to a treasure on National Scavenger Hunt Day.
At the end of the month, we’ll be taking something so simple, a paperclip, and brainstorming to see how many things we can do with it. National Paperclip Day is the perfect way to jumpstart our creative thinking and see where these imaginations will take us. Our JK/SK group is an incredible one, and they never cease to AMAZE us!
Reminder: We are closed Monday, May 23rd for the Victoria Day holiday. Enjoy your long weekend!
