Toddler Room #1
Winter is here now, and the children have really enjoyed playing in the snow. They scooped, filled buckets, then dumped it out and started over again. On days when it was too cold to venture outside, we still made sure to bring the snow inside. We also talked about winter during circle time and did many winter crafts like painting with ice cubes.
Recently, we added new puzzles to our room. The children especially loved playing with the new tool puzzle. The children would often use the tool puzzle pieces as real tools as they tried to hammer and saw different items in the room. Due to this interest, we added a construction and workshop centre in our class. This was a huge hit!
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and we would like to encourage you to dress your child in pink or red on February 14th. Also, if you choose to bring valentines for your child to pass out, please just put your child’s name on the valentine card and we will make sure their friends get them.
Toddler Room #2
We have been very busy in our room with many interests forming! While the children were playing outside. They discovered that they could see each others’ reflections in the puddles. They enjoyed waving to one another in the puddles. Based on this observation, we brought mirrors into the classroom. They enjoyed making faces, painting on the mirrors as well as dressing up and looking at themselves in the mirror.
Our latest interest, transportation, has evolved into community helpers! This was based on an observation of Jaxon building a train out of our chairs, and Lincoln sitting in the front, pretending to drive while asking “Who am I?” Many of the children have been pretending to be firefighters driving the firetruck and some children have been pretending to be doctors, giving the babies check-ups.
We will also be having a pink, red, and white day to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 14th.
Please be advised there is a P.D day on February 14th. Please let staff know of your childcare needs for that day.
Just a reminder that Story Book will be closed Monday February 17th for Family Day.
