The children are talking about going to school in September so with the big first day approaching we transformed our dramatic play center into a school.
The puppet theatre served as the teacher’ desk and table trays on the carpet were where the children ate their lunch.
The children were invited to pack a lunch and we provided lunch pails, containers and play food for this purpose. The reason for this activity was to help develop strength and coordination of the hand muscles. Children need exposure to a variety of gross and fine motor activities to develop good hand strength.
Activities such as scissor cutting, use of a hole punch and playdough will improve dexterity and help develop pencil control and handwriting skills.
Just a reminder that Story Book Early Learning Center will be closed Monday, September 3rd for Labour Day. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!
